“Back in March of this year, when I first joined MGA, home health care was a new frontier for me in the nursing field. I remember the nerves, questioning my experience, and grappling with self-doubt. Can I really do this? Is there enough support in home health care for a new nurse? Then I enrolled in the new grad training program, and almost immediately, my worries began to dissipate. My trainer, Brittany, seemed to have made it her personal mission to empower and instill confidence in me. Her support, along with the encouragement of every colleague I met at MGA, was pivotal. They were committed to my success, helping me learn, grow, and set new goals. The best part, so far, has been the placement. I was assigned to an incredible family, caring for one, sometimes two, of the most delightful children I’ve ever met. Their joy and resilience have been inspiring.

The defining moment of my year was when the family invited me to accompany them on their child’s Make-A-Wish trip to New York City for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Instead of being overcome with fear and self-doubt, I was filled with excitement, knowing I was ready; I have the knowledge and skillset to care for this kiddo on a flight across the country, far away from the safety of what’s known and comfortable. The experience was surreal – from the bustling streets of New York to the magic of the Parade, seen through the eyes of a child whose dream was coming to life. This trip wasn’t just a fun getaway; it was a profound learning experience about trust, care, and the deep impact of our work. Reflecting now, I see how far I’ve come from the timid, inexperienced nurse I was just a few months ago. The thought of taking a client out of state would have once seemed daunting, but now, it’s a fond memory I cherish. This evolution in my confidence and skills is a testament to the nurturing environment at MGA. As I continue my career in home health care, I’m constantly reminded of the meaningful difference we make in the lives of these families. Each day is fulfilling, and I’m ready for the new experiences and growth to come.”
